Happy Hollows

Art-rockers Happy Hollows were founded by two polar opposites. Free-spirited guitarist and Northern California native Sarah Negahdari initially met bassist Charlie Mahoney at a Los Angeles strip mall. Mahoney had just moved to Los Angeles from Washington, D.C. to begin work on a Ph.D. The two clicked as friends and the band began playing shows, quickly becoming a beloved staple of Los Angeles' underground music scene. Over the years, Negahdari has earned a reputation as a commanding front person, wowing audiences with her blistering guitar playing and charming them with her earnest, expressive, and emotive energy. Since the band's formation, Happy Hollows has toured across the United States, UK, Japan, and Canada while releasing three studio albums: Spells (2009), Amethyst (2013), and Concordia (2017).For its live performances, the group is rounded out by Belfast-born guitarist Scott Munro and drummer Glenn Fryatt.

“Fierce guitar work and an otherworldly blend of glimmering synths. This is some cosmic stuff--
but it also has a lot of heart.” –WNYC Soundcheck

“Instantly catchy shimmering pop hooks are just
what you need to get the weekend rolling.” –Nylon

“Truly magical, smashing all stereotypes of what
female fronted bands are made of.” –Ladygunn

“When I say this sounds like Stevie Nicks getting heavy into Kate Bush--that's for sure a compliment. This is pop, sure, but pop with plenty of secrets at work deep within each song" –LA Weekly
